Question Radio question

I have a 2002 XK8 Convertible. When I turn my radio volume up past 20 the dash board speakers cut out and I only get the lower speakers to work. Almost like some sort of protection kicking in. My question is do I have a issue with the speakers or the amp portion of the factory stereo? The fix usually is to turn the volume down and turn the radio off for a few minutes. turning the volume down and turning the ignition off and back on also fixes the issue.

It appears from the 80 views so far and no replies that no one else plays the radio at this volume.

I didn't even know it went up to 35 but after testing can confirm that my premium sound system does NOT cut the dash speakers out after 5 minutes at maximum volume.

You might want to remove the speakers and check if they appear to be aftermarket replacements.

I do not know for sure if Jag used 2 or 4 ohm speakers, but if they were originally 4 ohm and were replaced with 2 ohm, that could potentially overload the amplifier and cause it to temporarily shut down as protection.
