Radio swap fron 97 XK8 to 97 XK8
Swapping an aftermarket Kenwood radio from my older 97 XK8s to the newer one.
In connecting everything, I'm left with an extra 6-pin DIN cable. The new car has the triangle tweeters and dash speakers, the old one doesn't. I know the black DIN goes to the trunk CD player, but not sure what the light-colored one does.
In the new car, the Kenwood turns on but no sound. If I reinstall the OEM radio it works. If I remove the light-colored DIN cable, no sound.
Looks like the newer car has an upgraded system with extra amplifiers and the DIN feeds the amps. Am I right?
If so, is there an adapter to go from my RCA connectors on the Kenwood to this DIN?
Thanks for any pointers.
Original (donor car) wiring harness.
Destination car wiring harness. (Note extra light-colored DIN)

Yes you are right. The 2nd one has premium sound with an amplifier in the trunk.
sorry but I don't have the wiring memorized, though 2nd car needs a pre out signal (unamplified) to the amp.
If your 1st install was standard sound system, you were sending an amplified signal to the speakers. The 2nd car has the outboard amp in between the head unit and speakers.

more info
This is the cable in the wiring harness.
These are the low level (to an amp) outputs on the radio.
Anyone an adapter to connrct one to the other?
I've seen some Ai diagrams that look kinda like they might work. There is a Power up line and some left/right wires. Could the power-up be taken off the power antenna or if available on the radio amp output?

clarification
Jay, what does Ai diagram mean? John[/QUOTE
I believe it is the term used for the radio to amp cable. Also something about M-bus.
Say more about "power up" please. Which component are you trying to trigger?John[/QUOTE
There is a signal from the radio to the amp in the trunk to power-up when the radio is turned on.
maybe call a car stereo store for an adapter? Try Discount Stereo. They have several Jaguar targeted items.

Ive not tried Discount Stereo, but so far I've not seen much in stereo shops for these older cars.
