Default Radio volume control

The radio volume control only work to turn it off and on. The volume is control from the steering wheel. This makes imposible to adjust bass etc on the radio. Any suggestions. Thanks

Default These zero dollar fixes are worth a try

Well, it’s a common problem.

Try this Youtube fix, but I would strongly suggest an electrical contact spray instead. And put tissue around as it can stain the black trim.

Otherwise your potentiometer pot switch has broken. Most electrical repair stores can fix it/replace the switch, but you’ll need to get the unit out. Not really a home DIY job, unless your familiar with micro circuitary repair. As you’re familiar with taking off the car’s centre console out, it’s not too hard a job removing the radio.

Its not a potentiometer, its a rotary encoder that may just need cleaning - no soldering required, take the radio apart, get to the rotary encoder and clean it.

Default Radio volume control knob

Need to remove the radio volume control knob, I am afraid to break it, when pulling it. Is there any trick to avoid breaking it? Thanks

These are typically pressed on held in place with an internal (inside button) spring plate. I'd just apply uniform pulling pressure, it should slip off without too much force. It's not going to be glued on and it wouldn't make sense to design it with a set screw.

Just go slow and don't try to mash any molecules. John

You guys say this, and I have tried, but I've never gotten the knob out. I pull and pull and it feels like it would break before it releases.

Can you get a plastic pry tool behind it to lever it off. This shows what the knob looks like (if it is the same as yours) :-
