Default Random flashing of cruise control indicator light

On 2002 XKR, with the cruise control console button in the down and off position, the indicator light will randomly flash on and off ?

what gives ?

ASL...... ? ? Hmmmm, "American Sign Language". ???According to my XK Series Drivers Handbook, that left center console button is only for the cruise control.Z

On newer models there is automatic speed limiter ASL. For your car, pushing the button should result in the red light on and cc being available. But the light should be steady.

Thanks for deciphering the acronym. The cruise control master switch indicator light does come on, and stay on, when the cruise control is ON. And cruise control seems to work as it should work. But the lamp comes on occasionally, and randomly when the master switch is in the OFF position. Just thought someone here might have seen the same thing. The battery is fully charged, so it's not one of the low battery gremlins.

Most likely road vibration is causing the switch to temporarily engae causing the light to come on. You are facing at some point the necessity of replacing the switch. It is a really simple task if you know the tricks.
Below is a link to reverend Sam's video showing the tricks.
