Rear Brake light on/off button??
New member and just acquired my 99 XK8. I'm just curious what the purpose of the rear brake light button is. Its the oen right next to the Fog light button. Other than getting a tailgater off my A**, I can;t really make sense of it.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Letmyhairfly,
It's not really a brake light, it's an extra bright third light that I suppose is to make the rear more visible in foggy conditions, a rear fog light of sorts.
Congratulations on your "new" classic. Enjoy!

Sounds like you've found the Rear Fog Light switch, used to help keep you from being rear-ended in foggy driving conditions. These are not the same as the brake lights, as you'll see if you put them both on together. They've been mandatory on European cars for many years now.

The Rear Fog Lamps only work with the Head Lamps or front Fog Lamps switched ON.
