Default Rear seat removal on xk8

Hello

I'm looking at buying an xk8 (currently driving an x-type estate). My question is;

I play the double bass and was wondering if by removing the rear seats would a double bass fit into the back of an xk8?

I have a friend who had an xk150 back in the day who removed the front seat to get his in. I would rather keep the front seat in if possible!

Alternatively does anyone know if the front seat reclines and moves rearward enough to lie in the front?

Has anyone asked a more bizarre question on here??

Use to tote a Double Bass around myself. No, I don't think it will fit in the back, Double bass is to long to fit side ways, possibly with the top down hanging out. Taking the rear seat out would make no difference. As for the front you would have to have the top down. The front seat does not recline flat.

Not with the end pin in the boot by the door and head stock more by the gear stick?

Gutted!

The only way I see one fitting is to take out the passenger seat. you might and I say might be able to recline the seat fully, put the bass on it's side with the end pin toward the front in the foot well and the head stock toward the back of the car, maybe with the roof up. Would have to lower the roof to put it in and out though. Are you playing a 3/4.

Good luck

And if so, let's have some pictures of the attempt!

Why stop at pictures, let's have a video with the speed adjusted to suit the old silent movies!

It is a 3/4 bass. I live on the Wirral and if anyone does fancy an interesting experiment I'd gladly video it as well as repay in several pints of finest ale!!

You might try posting on the UK forum for greater assistance.

Only just seen this thread.

But yes, here is a 3/4 size bass in an XK8 Coupe. It was a few years ago, and I had this as a loan car whilst my XJ8 was being serviced.

I came across this whilst trying to see if I could get a bass into a new shaped XK !

I could barely fit my friend's "dead hooker bag" luggage in the back when I picked him up from the airport a few years ago (should have known - he was coming back from Afghanistan with a load of military crap). Can't ever imagine even with the seats removed there would be much room, but nice going, above!
