I was hoping for some advice as my garage is about to replace the rear shocks and absorbers on both sides but ran in to a snag.the long bolt shown on the photos below runs from front to back with the underside of the boot/trunk stopping the bolt from being removed.
Does the sub frame need to be removed in order to remove the bolt?
interestingly in photo 2 there is a round hole in the chassis right in front of the nut which seems to suggest the bolts are the wrong way round.
Could we just cut the bolts and insert them going from front to back where the nut is in photo 2?
I did mine years ago but I do remember removing those four bolts in the bottom of the sub frame near the rear. That allowed the suspension arms to drop low enough to easily pull the rear springs out (and I even used a hydraulic spreader to pull that subframe brace down).
Yes, drop the front part of the subframe and the one bolt on the rear sub frame that bolts to the diff.
Then that side will drop..One side at a time only!
