I am just about to fit a new water pump, can anyone recomend a good gasket sealer, and where to purchase it?

Many thanks,
David

A few months ago I replaced the waterpump in my 2003 XKR with one with a metal impeller . The instuctions said to use a gasket sealer. I used VersaChem type 2 Gasket Sealer (I think I purchased it from Kragen). No leaks or issues at this point.

oh-oh, time for the experts to set us straight. I just bolted mine on w/o and had no problem. I suppose if the gasket stuff is compatible with the gasket material, then what harm can it do?

depending on the style, you use either a steel shim embossed gasket, or a aluminum oringed gasket. neither use sealer

I don't use sealant, as Brutal says, comes with a crush type gasket, but I have noticed a lot of 'refurbed' water pumps hitting the market place with paper gaskets?
