Default Redlined Tires

Finally found some 18" XKR wheels for the car, and was wondering if someone knew where to get some redlined tires for it. I checked Coker but no 18's available.

I'd think you'd have a hard time, simply because the sidewalls are so low. A typical red line is either going to take up most of the sidewall, or look like a red pinstripe.

That's a good point, and I was noticing the blackwall effect with my 17's the past few weeks, thinking that they needed "something". Perhap I can find some redlines for those when the time comes, and run the 18's with regular blackwalls.

That brings to mind a question, I'll have two sets of wheels with mounted tires, how long can I let one set sit before having to run it again to keep the tires plyable and flexable? I'm thinking 3-6 months? I'd like to switch twice a year, but is that too long a period?

Skid,

You don't have to worry about your tires losing their pliability, even if you let them sit for a year or more. As long as they're younger than 4-5 years, they'll be fine with a nice long sit.

Got these, they're 10 years old, so I sent them to a shop here to be trued and refinished...Don't know what they're called, never heard a name for them...

those are Hydras, I think a good choice. At least you didn't select the multi-spoke Atlas wheel

I think the former Hydra are much more sporty...reminds me subtly of the 2004 XJR wheel.

Thanks! I looked at a lot of different kinds, but I knew the Hydras were the ones for me when I first saw them a while back. I saw others that were interresting like the Venus, but I made myself wait for these, and it did take a while. I'll run the Laminas during winter on Falken 722's and the Hydras in summer on Potenza 760's.

Even though they're similar to the Hydras, I didn't like the Impellers that came with the car, so I'll be selling those at some point.

Those are nice looking! I don't think I've seen them before. (Although personally I prefer h20boy's wheels.)

Hahaha, I'll bet I know why...you've got the same wheels he does!
What do you guys call your cars, the "evil twins" or something like that?

I've seen the Hydra wheels on most of the earlier model XKR's, '03 and earlier, maybe some '04's. The problem was finding them as salvage...took months.

Gonna have to disagree with a mod here, but those Atlas wheels are the best, IMO. I even prefer them over my Sepangs. They look just like the stock wheels on the DB9:

Atlas looks nice to me

I think the Apollo's (which I have on my car currently) look a bit more sporty, while these look more luxury.

This was one of the first cars I saw the Hydras on, but didn't buy the car. To me they look like a strong wheel, confidence inspiring.
