Reflash
I have a 2001 XKR convertible. I was putzing around in the car today and found a Jaguar sticker stating that the car has been reflashed/approved by Jaguar. Is anyone familiar with this ? Ive owned the car for less than a year.
Reflash means the software of either one (or more) control modules or the ECU itself was updated. There are a number of scenarios
- An updated purge valve was installed and the new version requires an accompanying code change
- A control module was replaced and ran a newer version as compared to the original module. The ECU had to be told to trust it (VCATS logic)
- The ECU had to be replaced and reprogrammed for your country and for the modules actually installed in your car.
- A prior owner complained about something and the ECU was updated to run a later version
- A prior owner installed the cabin air filter and an accompanying code change was done to up the A/C fan air flow
- (less sure of this one) The shifter light module was replaced with the later reman model requiring updated CAN messages
