can someone kindly explain or point me to a thread telling me how to remove the stock radio. ive searched but i cant seem to find anything on the xk8.

 

You need to remove the centre console first, J gate surrounds removed, pull off the back cover to the rear of the console undo the bolts, disconnect the wires to the cigarette lighter.

This then gives you access to the radio

 

jgate surround is the most tense part...just be careful with the tabs on that. Use a credit card and push in on the tabs gently - directly horizontally from the 1:00, 5:00, 7:00 and 11:00 position. It just comes straight up.

 

thanks alot guys. whenever i have a chance im going to get my new radio installed i just didnt know how to go about taking the stock one out

 

If you still have not done this, I followed Gus Glikas's ipod install photos to take the whole radio unit out. Picture 5 is the back end of the console that needs to be popped off either with a small flat head screwdriver or with your hands.
