I don't want to open an endless discussion on exhaust sound, but was wondering if someone could give me an idea of how difficult a project removing the rear mufflers and putting in one of the aftermarket delete kits is. Also, of the those available (Mina, Adamesh, XK's Unlimited, etc.), which ones are the most complete? I see on their sites that there are certain brackets and mounting hardware which not included, and since I'm probably going to have a local exhaust shop do the work (no access to a lift), I'd rather not be stuck because of a potential parts problem.

I'm assuming by the descriptions of the individual systems that they are pretty much the same in quality.

I did the Mina delete. Easy install and sounds sweet. Not loud at idle but a nice growl when you hit the go pedal. Did the oval tips. They fill the opening very well. All in all I'm very happy with it. The only modifications I want now is lowering springs and wheel spacers.

 

I did mine several years ago. Took it to a local muffler shop, they cut off the old mufflers, bent the pipes for the delete and welded them and the new oval tips I purchased on to the existing exhaust. Muffler shop cost me $75, don't remember what the tip cost but found them on E-Bay, Stainless Steel and they do fill the opening nicely.

 

Did the Mina delete kit last fall with the large round tips.

Taking the old mufflers off on my 99 XK8 with 50k was the easiest of any vehicle I have ever done.

Spray the clamps with a little nut buster the eve before as not to break the clamp.

Loosed the clamp, remove the muffler from the rubber grommet hangers, then just wiggle, wiggle.

I like the sound. You do get a bit of strang exhaust drone at certian rpm's.
Seems to lessen with time. Did the free flow air intake at the same time.
Took the computer a little time to adjust to the free flow in and out. Sounds great from both ends when you goose her a little. Rich
