Removing switchpacks from seat
Anyone have any tips on how to do this without destroying anything? I find that on these cars sometimes plastic pieces just pull out and sometimes they have clips or plastic bits that break if you do not do it correctly (and sometimes break even if you do them correctly).

hmmmm - well both mine are missing knobs and where the knob mounts on the switchpack, the white plastic square is broken so even if I found a knob I do not think it would stay on. I can still use the remaining part of the switch to actually move the seats - just a pia and it does not look as it should.
I just purchased two used switchpacks in the correct color that I have not received yet but are supposed to be in good used condition. $300 for the set vs. $1400+ for new ones from the dealer.
My hope was removing the old ones without breaking them and keeping them for spares if the ones I just purchased ever crap out. I imagine that if I break the existing switches pulling them out of the seat, I should still be able to install the replacements though I have heard that it is also possible to break the mounting box. Just looking for any knowledge to increase my chances for success, though I imagine I may get some insight when the replacement switches show up.

Wait until you get the used ones in. Then you will be able to see the mount points. This will then allow you to plan your attack. If you don't yet have a set of nylon pry tools you might want to consider getting some. They are cheap from Harbor Freight. under $7.00.
Also you should be armed with plastic epoxy. I'm to the point that when I pull these plastic parts off I'm going to start coating the backsides of them with epoxy to keep them from falling apart the next time.
