Default Replace Hazard Lights Switch

Reconnected the battery after sitting a while, and everything is fine, except hazard lights are stuck on. Switch doesn't feel right - not much movement. How do you remove the panel to replace it?

Thanks!
Mickey

I remember reading that some owners have been successful shutting off a stuck hazard switch by forcing the edge of an old credit card underneath it....

Thanks, Jon. After I posted, Kelly sent me a PM and shared how he turned his off. Looks like the whole bank of switches has to be replaced as a unit! And SNG Barratt shows "Unavailable".

Unlikely it needs replacing, just cleaning. One they're out the're easy to take apart and clean up whatever has gummed it up. Taking it out is the most challenging part of the process as the centre console has to come out. Even that is very straightforward:

Yep, disassemble, then clean & lube the button and don’t over-tighten when reinstalling.

Frankly, while taking apart the console is entertaining (in addition to not tightening down too aggressively on the wood brackets, make sure the wood brackets are headed in the correct direction. Rev Sam has them swapped to the wrong side, I believe), jamming a moistened microswab or six for a quick tour around the gap has always fixed this for me without removing anything. Microswabs repurposed from women hanging around the house shown below.

Microswab stolen from womenfolk.

One microswab jammed into the gap, the other hanging out in space. A little 409 (or water), a couple of circuits around the switch, and voila, doesn't stick any more.

Cool, I've gotta track down some of those micro swabs!

Your local Reeds, CVS or Walgreens should carry them. In the cosmetics aisle.

You'd probably be able to just spray electrical contact cleaner into the gaps around the button to get it cleaned off and working.

I have done this and it doesn’t work nearly as well as I thought it would. What did work for me was loosening the screws that hold the buttons to its bracket just a tad.

Tried that, but no joy. Now I'm out of contact cleaner!
