I recently purchased my 2002 XK8 and needed floor mats. I called jaguar and they said they no longer carry but I can find aftermarket on eBay. Didn't expect that!
Anyway, I found a listing for premium mats with grommets and jaguar logo. Really nice! I ordered and when they came in, I was really happy until the grommets were totally wrong. They came with two but my car only has one hook in both foot wells. And none missing! AND no where close to the aftermarket location.
I contacted them and they quickly replaced with what they said was the correct grommet location and still wrong! They say they're going by jaguar specs so my hook must be wrong. Ugh!!
What should be on my car from factory? One or two grommets!????

My car also has only one hook on either side so I would think yours would also be correct.

Surprised at Jaguar though, I bought mine from a Jaguar main dealer, in lambswool, and only for £60 for the pair.

 

FYI My 98 XK8 has two on each mat.

 

i have 2002 xk8 4.2 and only have 1 clip on either side

 

Early 4.0 litre models have two hooks. Later 4.2 litre models have a single hook.

I can't find an exact changeover VIN from the Parts Catalogue.

Whem I bought my car it was missing all the floor mats so I bought some at a carwash. They fit well, the color was right and they were dirt cheap. About a month ago it bunched up and actually jammed the throttle down. I was lucky because my first instinct was to put the car in neutral. I'm gonna run some stainless wire round the hooks and consider it done. My car has 2 hooks.

I just got new mats, last Friday, from autoetc. When you order, they ask you if it is one or two grommet model. They are gorgeous, customizable with color, logo, plushness, they fit perfectly, and they are very inexpensive, about $75.00 with all the options and shipping. I bought two sets, one for the XKR and the other for the XJ. Highly recommended. The one thing I apparently forgot to order is the vinyl heelpad on the driver's side, which I will have my upholsterer put on.

I've got a 4.0 2001 with the build date of 08-2000 with one hook. So probably between 2000 and 2001 they switched. don't know if it's with the model year or middle of production.

Here is the link, make sure you order every option that you want, as I apparently forgot to order the heel pad. If you are ordering black as I did, the black is much darker than the OEM color as the existing carpet looks more charcoal. It doesn't bother me. The mats are plusher but not as dense as originals, but very nice.
