Default Replacing the Sunlight Sensor

As many of you have probably done, I knocked the black cover off my Sunlight Sensor while cleaning my windshield. I finally got around to swapping it out with a new one, AND figuring out "how" to do that (long and painful story - lol).

The sensor lifts easily from the dashboard. So easily in fact, that you can use any tool without fear of galling the dash cover. The problem is, that once it's out, you can't pull the wire out far enough to get to the connector.

Spoiler: Remove the dash speaker grill right next to the sensor. It actually comes out more easily than the sensor. The speaker comes out with the grill, as one unit. you will see the sensor wire running though this area inside. Gently work bought sets of wires out of the dash - the sensor connector was wrapped in foam padding. You will have enough wire to move the speaker away safely and more than enough to exchange the sensors.

It's tough to get a decent picture "through" the windshield, but here are a couple to help:

I just glued the black cover on mine when it came off with some super glue.

Hi J,

Mine black cap got eaten by a black hole - lol. Oddly enough, after finally replacing it and doing some Steering Column work, the black cap finally appeared from way back under my seat. So if any body needs one, I now have a spare. :-)

I used a piece of string to pull the wires through on mine:

Went to all this trouble and then found I could have just popped the cover from the replacement straight onto the existing sensor.
