Default Replacing the Thermostat on 1997 XK8

I have a friend in Las Vegas with a 1997 XK8 (only 30k miles). She needs to get the thermostat replaced and the shop (All European) is quoting her $700. This seems very high. Anyone have a good estimate on what something like this should cost. Also, can any Vegas member recommend a good independent shop in Las Vegas?

I completely agree with your opinion of the cost . . . but . . . that is a 16 year old car even with 30k miles and with, most likely, the original thermostat, coolant, hoses and everything else. All the above and probably a number of other things will end up being changed above a $20 thermostat.

A recommended local indy is, indeed, a financially appropriate solution and it still may end up at or above the $700.

. . . and don't forget the tensioners!

One hour labour and $50 for a thermostat. If extras are included like hoses etc then the cost will be higher, but just for the thermostat, $150 tops and that is still expensive.

That's what I thought but wanted to make sure. These are Jaguars after all. Thanks for the help.
