Default replacing XK8 gauges with nav unit

I have a 2002 xk8 that I want to put an aftermarket nav unit or nav/audio in where the 2 center gauges and clock are. Is there anyway to do this? I have seen a lot of threads with people switching out factory nav units but not converting from the gauges to a nav unit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may go in many directions to find the solution but all will eventually end up here:

He wants to go from 3 gauges to NAV, not the other way around.

I am going to a flip out screen, as I want to keep those gauges.
But to answer your question, you would need a NAV center woodgrain and with the panels on either side as the panels are made together and it would look bad if you introduced a center section that did not match the out woodgrain.
I believe you can get the screens from e-bay and you would also need a cable to connect to your aftermarket radio.

I am still researching what I am going to do, but it should give you an idea of what needs to be done.

I concur with Randy, that if you have the gauges, consider a new headunit with a flip-out screen for navigation. The newer units have bluetooth integration, ipod integration and many other features. I think this is the smartest way to go, and it preserves your gauges.

If you are dead set on adding navigation to replace the gauges, others have installed portable units in the opening (search the XK8/XKR forum), or you can get a used factory screen and add a Garmin GVN-53 (see the write-up lnk in my signature).
