So... Was replacing a coolant line and T fitting from Throttle body to octopus line (fun job). Cursing made it better but, in my wrestling under the hood I decided to rest my hand on the hard/plastic line going from the reservoir to the Tstat housing and of course it broke in two about midway.
Have thought about replacing with copper tubing or a better fix but, I figured it lasted 15 years so I will replace with proper hard line. I'm a Virgo by nature btw.
My search skills are seriously lacking on this site and SNG Barrett's site is not what I would call user friendly or searchable in any way shape or form.
If anyone happens to have the part number for this line it would be greatly appreciated.
As always, friends, thanks in advance if you can help me locate this part/number.
I would encourage you to spend a bit of time around that site. Navigate the menu on the right for high level assemblies, then pull the pictures and then pick individual parts on the right. Well worth the small investment going forward IMHO. That site is really great, especially since the redesign.
Funny, I was just looking at this repair the other day. The same thing happened to me. Certainly didn't have time to order and wait for the plastic tube replacement.
if you are in a rush/jam: I went to the auto store with a piece of the broken plastic tube (for Outside diameter). Found and purchased an appropriate length of fuel line rubber tube. Put a small clamp on each end to seal. All is perfect for well over 1 year now.
John, I thought about doing the same repair using hose and clamps. I'm sure it would work fine but, found the replacement line on ebay for $26. I want to get my car back on the road but figured I could wait a couple of days for the part. Plus, I am tired of draining the coolant system on a semi regular basis (just did it a few weeks ago).
Fred, I will try navigating Barrett site based on your recommendations. I know they are a good and reliable source just found the site in the past to be a pain to find things.
Graham, appreciate the link for the catalog download. I will definitely check it out!
I used a section of 5/16-inch rubber transmission fluid hose purchased from Advance Auto Parts. It holds up to the engine bay heat cycles far better than the crappy plastic line that Jaguar chose....

I did the same exact thing. Anytime I can replace a brittle plastic part with metal or durable hose its done.
