Default restricted performance

Can't get my 2000 XK8 out of restricted performance. Normally I just shut it down for a few minutes and restart. This time it just keeps coming back. Any advice on rebooting to get rid of this?

Get a code reader. Read codes. Take it from there. Anything else is just guessing.
Try and remember that it's putting it in restricted performance to prevent you damaging the car, whether that's because there's a genuine problem or it just thinks there is one.

+1 on getting codes read!!!! Autozone or Advance will read them, then post the actual codes here for better support in diagnosing the issue

Got an "inova 3100" code reader per your advice. Got PO354. Erased code and problem seems to be solved. Thank you guys.

Understand that clearing the codes with your reader did not fix the problem. It will come up again! If you remember the codes you had you should post them.

You can use this link to identify what the code is telling you the problem is.

Link to codes http://jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepa...7_ECM_2000.pdf

The problem could be in one of your coilpacks but I thought it would have thrown a code for that coil and did not. The problem could be in the ECM and the only real way to know is to send it out and have it tested. If it comes up again and a coilpack does not come up you might want to get the ECM checked before it lets you down on the road.

Sorry but I did not see the code the first time. Always a problem for me reading a post on the phone.

You have an intermittent problem, and fortunately it persisted enough to produce a code. If you were less likely, you'd get no code or leads. You can assume you are on borrowed time, and you can use that time to prepare to address the ignition coil problem, typically by replacement. Good luck.
My Restricted Performance was associated with a Knock Sensor code. I replaced the Knock Sensor and solved the problem.

Keep getting PO354 so I bought 8 new coils. Going to replace #4 coil on bank A. Per your post this should solve problem. Will post the results when finished.
