Right size for hex key?
The cylinder block drain? I don't know the size but hate to see any thread being ignored so my reply could prompt someone who does know the size to respond.
162 Views so far and 0 Replies suggests many others must be thinking the same as me - why would you want to remove it other than to fit the optional and expensive cylinder block heater?
If it's to drain the block, it only drains B-Bank. The coolant pipe behind the starter motor has to be removed to drain A-Bank. The majority of coolant not drained by opening the radiator drain remains in the heater matrix and atmospheric recovery bottle.

The Hex plug size is 17mm.
It is very tight, I use a 1/2" drive tool with a flex joint and long extension.
Sometimes the metal/rubber sealing washer comes apart and needs to be replaced. You might want to source one before you remove the plug.

P.S. There is enough crossflow in the water pump area of the block to drain the right bank low enough that the right head can be removed without coolant spilling everywhere.

What about the drain plug in front of engine...the one underneath/behind timing cover...is it adviseable to open?...I am doing the timing/chain/tensioner job at the moment, so would be an easy job at the moment?
all the best
