Crossed back into Canada today. Just over 5000 km covered . Trip computer now reads avg fuel economy at 9.4 L/100 km ! ( about 30 miles per imperial gallon ) I am very pleased with that. Still zero oil or coolant consumption despite lots of heat. 30+ every day in Ohio. I have however developed a whine in the rear end. Rahal Jaguar ( as in Bobby Rahal of NASCAR fame ) in Pittsburgh had a look and said its bearing noise but I should be fine to drive home. I guess my next project is to rebuild the differential. Not too bad for a 15 yr old car with 197,000 km on it

so far I have not been able to figure out how to get pics from my phone onto here. They get stored in Google photos of the phone and I can't seem to copy them to windows so I can upload them

Not happy today......the wheel bearing that I had replaced a week ago in New England failed spectacularly yesterday. Rear wheel locked up at 60 kph in a round about. I managed to get the car the the side of the road without incident. I found an actual Jaguar mechanic here in St. Catherine's Ontario ( mid 60s independent but apprenticed at Jaguar in Coventry ). We are hoping that it has not destroyed the hub. The guy at the Jag dealer in Pittsburgh who said the whine was from the differential ( and to continue on my way ) obviously did not know his stuff either. Anyway..... no one was harmed so its an inconvenience more than anything else.

You should get a refund from the dealer in Pittsburgh, I would make that call when you get home.
If you run into trouble in New Brunswick, need a wrench or a cold one, send me a note I'm in province all week.

Just talked to mechanic. Good news is that the diff seems fine. Bad news is that the failed bearing fried the hub. He has located a good used one and will install it tomorrow. I will ( for what it's worth ) call the guys in New England and try to get my money back, but since they are in another country i dont expect much success. Im frankly just glad its only the hub

If you paid by credit card I'd dispute the bill. Just because it's cross border shouldn't make a difference. Glad you were able to pull over safely and all are just shaken and not stirred.
