Rough ride after transmission rebuild (97 XK8)
Had the transmission rebuilt on my 97 xk8 at a tranny shop in LA (not a Jag spacialist) after the infamous A clutch failure. Before that the car was running perfectly and shifting up and down smoothly, but ever since the rebuilt the car is randomly "jumpy" on downshift and have shut down several times when coming to stops as well as when slowly reversing when parking showing a "engine stalled" message" that goes away when the car is restarted.
I went back to the shop but had been told it has nothing to do with the transmission and that I should check for engine issues... needless to say I'm not convinced since I had none of those issues until then.
They did a scan and found no codes, however, they did confirm they did not reset either the ECU or the TCM... is that a necessary step? Does anyone have any suggestion on how to proceed from here?... By the way, the car has 83k miles.
Thanks!

When a tranny gets pulled, there is someone in there messing with a lot of things. It's possible that something got disconnected or reinstalled improperly. Its probably their fault, you just have to prove it! Get a powerful flashlight and look for loose connectors or something out of place. Poor idle can be a vacuum leak so look for loose vacuum hoses . Doing it yourself seems unfair, but their guy could be a klutz, keep him away.

Hi.
I had my transmission replaced and was not pleased with the initial results.
- Rotary switch had to be changed.
- Poor idle, air leak, seal btw. throttle body and air intake not properly installed.
- Engaging cruise control gave Check Eng. Light and poor performance warning. Tiny vaccum line on right side of throttle body not connected.
- Gear shift stuck in park. Corrected itself without intervention.
- Poor shift quality, but this is getting gradually better. May be some kind of adaption process.

Well... He offered to call a guy he knows who is a technician at a dealership to check the car, so I guess he's idea is that I can pay someone he recommends to figure out and finish what they couldn't do properly.... so yes, I'm likely keeping him away.
Unfortunately I don't really know how to check for all this stuff properly so I'll probably have to take it to someone else to look into it for me :/ I'm wondering if taking it to the dealer for a diagnostic would be worth it.
