Default Sad day happy day all in one.

On Tuesday my lovely XK8 decided to leave home after 4 a 1/2 years of trouble free enjoyment.

However, on the same day we received a new addition to the family, a 2009 5.0L XK Portfolio in Lunar grey with ivory interior and only 7500k on the clock. Yes that is correct, just 7500k.

At present he has just been clay barred, compounded and polished. Tomorrow will be the wax, bright work, wheels and tyres.

Once he is ready for his close up I will post up some pictures.

I must say that this car is an absolute animal when you press the mad button, and oh my what fun I am having getting to know him.

Very glad you're happy with the new cat. Too bad you couldn't keep both.

Looking forward to the pictures.

Congrats!

That is a beautiful choice.

In 2009 does that car have the contrast stitching on the leathers?

It does on the dash but not the seats.

Thanks guys, looks like I'll be learning a lot over the next few weeks also.

Jim,

An excellent epitaph on the XK8. Always good to hear about trouble free ownership.

Enjoy the replacement. I've just had a lot of fun taking my XK Coupe across France and Spain.

Congratulations. I couldn't part ways with my 2002 XKR, in fact, I got the 2010 XKR to prolong its life. I've only had my 2010 a couple of weeks, and while the power and handling are intoxicating, there is a lot about my 2002 I like better. So, I guess I'll have to keep both.

Good luck with your Portfolio. I looked at a spectacular one that had 8000 miles a couple of months ago. I just really wanted that 5.0 L (U.S. versions didn't get the 5.0L til 2010). Beautiful car.

Happy motoring

Here is a couple of shots of the latest beast.

What I've done so far:-

Clay bar all over(filthy)
Meguiars ultimate compound and where necessary, scratch remover.
Meguiars polish
Meguiars wax.

Wheels inside and out with centre caps oriented for chin to tyre valve.

All brake hats and callipers cleaned and painted.

Woodwork bees waxed.

Now he is ready for the public and I still have a huge smile on my face.:icon_goofygr in:

Jim,

Looks superb. That's a beautiful colour.

I'm still getting the dead French flies off mine!

Cheers Graham. Taking a short run down to Dinon on Wednesday so I dare say I'll be doing the same when we get back.
