Default Sat Radio Install

Anyone have any luck with a stealthy satellite radio install? Got a couple of quotes in the $200 range to install my Sirrus radio in the center console and wire it to the accessory under glove box. Don’t like the idea of broadcasting to the radio but my 97 doesn’t have an AUX on the radio and I don’t want to change the dash at all.

I'm afraid without replacing the head unit, FM modulator on the sirius tuner will be the only way you can get it to work successfully. Based on the compression of the satellite radio, I doubt you will notice any huge difference in audio quality between the two possibilities. Enjoy commercial free broadcasting my friend!

You can also get a cassette adapter. Hides easily when not in use.
Wire it to the cigar lighter under console. Wire taps are your friend.

Here is a link that might help for installing an "I-Pod" and I think ICRUZE make an interface for sat radio.

Here is another link for some interface adapters for sat radio, didn't look hard but I didn't see one for Jag. http://www.audiooutfitter.com/satellite-radio/c512.html

I think most of these plug in where your CD player plugs in, so the cd changer won't work....

I haven't used any of these so I can't recommend them...

Good Luck....

Yah, forgot the cassette adapter thing...I never really liked those back in the 90s. Volume levels are different (usually lower), and you have to rely on the tape deck system being clean and working well...just too many 'sources' of signal transfer for me to be comfortable with the eventual quality (unless it's talk radio you're after). It is an option, however...and a cheap one at that.
