Satellite radio

I assume you do not want to use an FM modulator, which is the easiest approach, but not the best sound quality.
Try the PIE ALP/AI-AUX (http://www.myradiostore.com/auxadapt...lp-ai-aux.html). I and others have been successful with it, though there are some reports of people saying it did not work for them, and PIE does not list it as supporting our cars. It is about $50 and a plug and play.
When the satellite radio audio comes on, with the standard Jaguar Alpine, it will override the CD changer automatically and go back to CD when the satellite radio is turned off.
If it does not work, you will have to hack a relay switch into the Alpine cable.

hey jagpro, if you want to mount a display somewhere, and just need an aux port to channel the audio into the deck, try reading this page, ignore the navigation video content, but pay close attention to the products that run inline of the Ai-net feed of the cd changer and deck, whiteXKR successfully added one to his car. One option is triggered by power, or a switch... the other is auto-signal sensing. Its a great way to get another audio source w/o chopping the car up and adding tons of components (like me)

This type of adapter also works well and it will work with any system: http://www.myradiostore.com/fmmodula...ter-xmfm1.html
It uses the FM modulator built into the XM radio, but instead of just allowing the signal to get to the antenna through the air, it injects the signal directly into the antenna cable. I had one installed at Best Buy on a car I owned many years ago. It was MUCH better than the FM modulator alone, which always sounded fuzzy.

There is another solution to this issue. I wanted to have SAT Radio in my 99 XK8 but did not want to dig into the wiring to install it. I found a device called the SKYDOCK from XM that plugs into the cigarette lighter and my IPHONE becomes my SAT radio! It still uses the FM modulation but does have a audio out if you still want to splice into the system. A couple of nice things is that it charges my IPHONE all the time and you can PAUSE the radio if you have a call come in. Never miss anything. Also it sets the phone so I can see it while checking mail and such. The only downside to this is that I wish they would have set it up for hands free talking on the phone. It will take out the radio when you have a call but you are limited to the speaker on the phone and that is not the best when it is in its dock. Not sure if they make any models to fit other smart phones but worth checking into.

I think that model was marketed directly by XM Radio a number of years ago. I have one of those in my S-type with a WIRED (not wireless) FM modulator and get very respectable results and it requires minimal hacking.
The alternatives that are left today are to direct wire in place of the CD changer or into the cassette circuit inside the radio. There are various threads on this forum (and the X308 forum, which has the same system) for both those methods.
You can also keep an automated search going on ebay for a used PIE ALP AI/AUX or an Alpine KCA-410C, both of which are out of production but occasionally turn up used.
