Default SC Removal Help

Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of removing my SC and Intercoolers in order to replace the valley coolant hoses.

I'm having a hard time removing the lower intake elbow. It's free and there's play, but it's still relatively tight and there's not enough room to take it out.

I'm following the workshop manual and have removed the TB, disconnected the EGR, and disconnected the coolant "bypass V" that connects to the intercoolers. The bolts on the sides were also removed, per the Jag shop diagram, as were all vacuum and electric connections as far as I can see.

Any ideas? Should the "bypass V" be out completely before I can remove the elbow? Do I need to remove the EGR valve out completely?

Cheers

Hi, I recently did the valley hoses and I only removed supercharger, I left the intercoolers, intake and EGR in place, but it makes the rear bolt to the charger very very very difficult to remove.

Remove one of the 'triangle' plates on the side of the intake 'elbow'.

The left one is easier to get at.

Got the intake elbow out, and taking out the SC and IC's was a breeze after that.

Thanks for the tip regarding the driver's side bracket!

Hope to send some parts off for polishing while I'm in there; will post up pictures when done.

Recommendation on the polishing, have the intercoolers media blasted first to remove the paint. Not sand blasted, that's too course but something like baking soda.

Polishing the large flat areas will work well but you will likely have paint left in the welds and between the lettering. I ended up cleaning mine by hand after the fact and then redoing some of the polishing.

Look around your home town area for anyone that has DRY ICE BLASTING avail to use. That will clean that stuff right up and not damage the surface at all.
