Default seat control module

Does anyone know of, or recommend anywhere in the UK that can repair a seat control module for a 2001 XK8?
I have looked at the thread which shows how to repair a damaged track, but mine does not have any obvious damage. I have also checked with a multimeter. Any advice would be gratefully received.

In the US most find a used module at a breaker for less than anyone would repair one.

Yes, I'm trying breakers as well, but no luck so far.

The first time I replaced a seat module I carefully sought the exact same part number and extension and found one for less than $100. The passenger module on this car is shot also and I swapped to confirm. It is not the same part number nor extension as the driver side. I have developed the opinion that the driver side might have to be matched to the BCM due to the memory but the passenger side is just relays operating motors.

Anyone else have an opinion on that before I go looking again?

Who have you tried so far? I have a couple but from an earlier car and dont think they will work on yours with the seperate head rests, I will also check on the seats I have around and see if any of those have the box with them.

Many thanks for your response.

I have contacted Jojags on ebay, but they only have the earlier non-headrest version and I have a call out on 247 spares.

I did try our local Ford dealership as it is manufactured by Ford, but they were unable to help. I hav not yet contacted Jaguar to find out how much a new one is as I suspect I might not like the answer, but I suppose I should!

The part number of mine is LJE2160AAA/XXX

Many thanks
Chris

I have the same problem with the control module on the passenger side. Mine is the 2001 XK8 also. The dealer here in Portland, OR quoted me a price of $1,100 just for the part. I was in shock about that and just pulled out the module and tried to fix it myself to no avail.

The local Ford dealer could not cross reference the part number to the Lincoln LS models that I think used the same module.

I have not tried the "breakers" as you call them. Junk dealers in the US.
Autopartswarehouse.com has them for $360 or so and a knock off for $200+. Thats US dollars, of course.

I am still looking for a cheap fix in the $100 range.

I used the drivers side module to set up the passenger seat and pulled out the module to lock it in place for now.

What did you do to try to fix it?

I was able to fix mine, but it took a few jumper wires. I wouldn't mind taking another crack at one if you felt like shipping it to me.

My circuit board lines are fine. The only problem is the resistor (?) on the edge of the board. It is big-time corroded.

I thought that the head rest had a separate module.

Looks like mine had coffee spilled on the front of the seat which leaked into the circuit board and corroded the front few lines. Most seem to have contunity with my tester but it looks like a major disaster.

Yeah I had coffee in mine too. I had to repair about a dozen circuits to get mine working again. The first few along the edge of the board had pretty much corroded completely away.

I came here looking for advice, and your posts led me to look closely at the circuit board. It was a bad circuit trace, very first one at the edge of the board, on the component side. Careful soldering of fine wire to bypass the missing copper foil and I have a working module. Now the passenger seat back can be moved forward AND back, rather than only back. And I can put that 135 to 280 dollars back into my pocket.

No coffee spills. Maybe just condensation accumulating a little moisture at the edge of the card, reacting with the metal foil and corroding it to open.

My 2000 XK8 convertible is not perfect but I am liking it so much more.

The general "consensus" is that the hard plastic case is holding the board in a manner that causes the edge circuits to break off over time. FWIW, I have wrapped the edges of my modules in electrical tape to better protect the boards, and prevent a majority of the shifting between the two.
