Default Seat Module

Can anyone tell me if seat modules for the XK8 (LJE2160AB) and XJ8 (LNC2160AD) are interchangeable? I have what looks to be the XJ seat modules installed in my 2005 XK8, and everything seems to work except the heated seats. Thanks

I doubt the modules are a direct substitute.
The sedan seats have more movements for rise/fall because the front and rear of the seats have independent motors.
The XK only has up and down for the whole seat.

Don't know about heaters but the early XKs (4.0 cars) and the X308 use VCATS for software versions.

I do know that the 2001 XK 4.0 seat modules are compatible with later cars.(at least up to 2004MY)

TechTip we got when I worked at the dealer.

Models – XK8/XKR 2001/2002 MY
Symptom: PECUS D or PECUS P warning after replacing seat modules
Information: After replacing one or both seat modules, a technician will see a PECUS message on the dash. When looking on the WDS, there will be no programming option for the seat modules. To repair a tech must locate a 2003-04 XK, install the seat module in that vehicle, and then program with WDS. The only side that can be programmed is the driver's side; therefore a passenger seat module must be placed in the driver's position and programmed. After programming install modules in original car, PECUS message should be gone.

It seems that the XK has a relay for the heated seat inside the seat control module, and the XJ has a relay outside of the control module under the seat. Do you know anything about this? If that's true, I guess that's why it's not working and the parts are definitely not interchangeable.

I have no idea without looking at the electrical guide.
Never tried to use the modules from different models.

Switched seat control module from XK8 (LJE2160AB with a manufactured date of 8/28/03 so replaced before) with one from XJ8 (LNC2160AE) and it works. Seat heaters not working. Not sure is they worked before switched.

If I install a used seat control module, does it need to be programmed? I bought a seat control module with the correct part number but the heated seats still don't work. I will check the relay inside the module when I can, every other seat function works.

Can you hear the relay clicking when you press the button and does the LED indicator come on over the button?

No click from relay and the indicator light does not come on.

That suggests to me the problem isn't in the seat module. Have you checked all the fuses?

IIRC when my security sounder failed it took out the fuse that supplies the switches.

From what I've read the heated seat function doesn't have its own fuse. A blown fuse would stop all seat functions.

The switches aren't on the same fuse as the seats. Get the wiring diagram for your car and have a look. You should always check every fuse in the circuit before trying to diagnose it.
