Default Seat module repair

Hi Jagsters!

Two items.

One:

I pulled my passenger seat module out of my 2003 XKR after disconnecting the battery. I noticed the window was partially down. I'm trying to get a computer guy to resolder the circuit board. I can't leave the car with the window down. Can I connect the battery without the module in place so I can shut the windows or will the disconnect set off things like the air bags, etc.?

Two:

I was able to disconnect the seat module from the wire plug ins on the passenger seat, but the drivers seat module had a third weird looking connection between the two plug ins. Sound familiar to anyone? I haven't seen any pictures like it from my research here.

Having discovered my radar detector through this forum (3 raised red lights), I would not be surprised if this was not an oddity as well. The connection looks like small connection of wires with a clip holding them to the front of the module.

Thanks for listening.

Scott

The driver side control module has the third plug for the memory function. The passenger side does not participate in this, so 2 plugs only.

The window is controlled by the door module located in the driver door. If it is inoperative there is something wrong other than the passenger seat module.

To answer yur question it is perfectly acceptable to reinstall the battery while the module is out. Mine was gone for 3 weeks to be repaired. I still drove it daily.

Thank you, gentlemen for your speedy reply. I have reconnected the battery with the passenger seat module out. I will work to pull out the driver's side today.

The windows reseat themselves against the headliner after closing the door. They move about half an inch. I disconnected the battery with the doors open. Therefore when they closed with no battery, they stayed open about half an inch.

Now that I know I can reconnect the battery, the windows are not an issue.

Thank you again.

Scott

There is a guy out west that rewires the boxes for a little over $100 (I think). He was very easy to work with and the module works great. I apologize for forgetting his name, but search around in here for my tribute to him or postings with my experience.

Thanks for Daryll's info, Vern. I couldn't find it. I should also add, that his turn-around time is very, very fast.

Thank you all, gentlemen! I tried to get my computer guy to resolder the modules, but the work was too fine for him to attempt. He was afraid of damaging them.
So I called Darrell turner and had a long philosophical talk with him, he's a lot of fun! My modules are on their way to him and will soon be ready for duty.
Thanks again!
