Default seat trim

I had the seats re-covered and the trim pieces that cover the pivot point areas are both broken

Anyone know who may have them for less than a first born child?

I hope the shop is compensating you for that.

They were broken before the job started, not their fault.

Very common when people have been in the back, as they get out they always catch them with their feet or clothing ripping them off.

I have remade these before in aluminium, quite easy to do and then have them covered in leather or vinyl to match

Assuming they are still stocked, they are about $75 each at a discount online parts dealer like Gaudin Jaguar. It may be difficult to find them on the used market, because they usually want to sell the whole seats intact and a lot of them are probably broken already.

Do you have any DIY pictures? I was thinking about that myself but was not sure how to get the shape.

I no longer have a shop or the tools so I guess I would have to get real inventive.

I might still have the template, if I find it I will knock up a quick drawing and post it up, it is a very simple shape, a trianglar quadrant with the 2 straight edges folded over. I used 3mm (1/8) aluminium, a couple of countersunk screws with plastic caps pressed into the top of the screws, worked and looked a treat

I can hardly wait.

I enjoy this kind of stuff. It would look great with some of the old leather from the old seat covers to match.

Thanks

That would be really cool! My trim has seen better days.

I tried looking for the template....no joy I am afraid.... I can tell you how I made it....

You will need a good trim piece to start off with, does not matter which side, get a cereal box and cut a side off, lay the trim piece on it, draw around it, then fold the cardboard over the edges, draw around these, cut the shape out.
You can even mark the holes, it does not have to be an exact representation, just pretty close and it will look a million dollars better than the broken item.

You can fold the template both ways to use for each side, duplicate the template on some 3mm ali and cut it out, fold the 2 edges, drill the holes, you will need some kind of bush for the back to use as a spacer, washers will work if you have nothing else to hand, just super glue them together, cover it, screw it on!

Both sides of mine are broke so I am hoping someone can follow XK's advice and make a nice template that we all can use! I hate opening my doors and seeing the mechanics on the hinge of the door!!!
