the rebuild kit works very well. did mine about 3 months ago...also you may want to replace the shocks and the uper control arm bushings while at it and things are apart . am sure the lower shock bushings will be trashed . also make sure when reasembling the shock mounts you hold the top of the shock bolt while tightening the nut i didnt and had a very annoying rattle till i tightened it that way on the car which i believe is much harder .

The reason I am asking is that my search revealed a WIDE swing in price and the parts package. My inspection of the lower bushings look good but the top is clearly worn and the nose is a little low.

Beware of the aftermarket top bush, there have been too many reports of the studs shearing off.

Consider the rebuild kit instead.

Arrrrgh! That just happened to me. Only it was my fault. Used an impact wrench as I was tired and didn't feel like twisting the nut through all those threads by hand. Forgot the torque was set on high ...

I wasn't an aftermarket one either ...

Was able to fix things after two go-rounds. Turns out my old top bushings were not rusted so I drilled out the rivets and reused the plate with the old studs. The reason for the second go-round was that I reinstalled the inner bushing upside down (the washers are different from top to bottom) and didn't notice it until it was time to torque the center shock nut.

Oh well, I'm getting very quick at using spring compressors.

Lesson learned - if the plates aren't rusty, the rebuild kit is the way to go.

Low noses must be contagious right now ...
