Default Silverstone vs XKR 100

Morning All:

I am trying best I can to become educated regarding a hopefully forthcoming purchase; either a Silverstone or 100 Convertible. Am I correct in that the primary differences between the two would be the seats (Recaro in in the 100), and Xenon lights (in the Silverstone)?

Any feedback the board could provide would certainly be appreciated.

Cheers!
Chuck

The 100 has the updates to the engine, it should have xenons also. You need to post this in the XK/XKR forum.

They are basically the same car except early model Silverstones had the Nikasil engines where the X100's would be steel lined. If the Nikasil engine has made it this long without problems it probably OK. One of the reasons was sulfated gas that was used in the late 1990's and 2000 I have a Silverstone with a build date of Aug 2000, Nikasil lined block, and it runs superbly with 80,000 on it. The plastic tensioners where changed to the third generation steel in Aug of 2001, but you have to go by the serial # of the block not the car. The XKR's will keep a big smile on your face whenever you drive it.

Thanks Doug- also getting up to speed on the tensioner and hydraulic top issues, I appreciate the input greatly.
