Default Sins of the Past

Well I decide to change a coil and change the plugs this afternoon and what a suprise. I had 3 different plugs on bank # 2! 3 Bosch, 2 with different style numbers and 1 NGK Iridium. Researched the plug numbers and they were all designed to fit XK8. I have seen some blank-blank- blank B S in my time but this took the cake. Oh did I forget, one plug was finger tit. Now I wonder if the coil is bad or not! Well Let see what tomorrow holds when I change the plugs on bank #1. The interest thing is the coil that I changed is one that the dealer change 3 years ago when the wife and I were on a trip. For you folks that do not perform your own maintenance, ask your indy for the parts that have been changed. Its time for a cocktail. Jim

Jim,

Good to hear that. I hope the car is running better too.

This is a perfect example of the reason why I carry out the full service schedule list when I get a new (to me) vehicle to get a baseline and correct any 'mistakes'. Amazing the number of times I've found something not right from a leaking drain plug through to a seized spark plug. A mixture of plugs is one I've not seen yet!

Mixed plugs may be a direct result of the updated diversity regulations....
