Exclamation Skunk then Deer collision within 2 hours - My life just turned into a Hitchcock movie

Never having ran over anything, tonight I first ran over a Skunk that exploded into my undercarriage stinking up the entire car and it's surrounding. Then going back from the car wash (that allegedly has a undercarriage wash), I hit a deer at 50 mph.

Luckily my car was fresh waxed and I managed to hit it off center, which might have reduced the damage - but my left fender is shot.

The Deer did not fare as well

My insurance does not cover it, and I have a Relayrides rental in two days - as I'm starting my own business now that has been my only income source. Any advice as to where I can find cheap parts? I found a guy with the same paint job parting out his XK8 not to far from here, so I'll try that first.

FML.

Remarkably little damage to the car from impacting an animal that size.

Remember it's 'three strikes and you're out'.

That stinks jago...

Sorry about your luck. Bummer you didn't hit the deer first, the venison would taste much better!

Sorry about your misfortune. Tons of deer around our neck of the woods as well, especially at dawn and dusk....

You know these things happen in groups of three. You nailed the skunk, you nailed the deer, so Sasquatch may be next. Be careful out there....

Vehicle/Deer accidents are big around here, so I expected the worst when I saw the title. That doesn't look too bad and hopefully just a fender and headlight will do it. I'm guessing the hood is tweaked too though, so you may need one of those also. i actually hit (another) raccoon the other day with no damage. It was dead and there was oncoming traffic, so I straddled it, but it was too tall and hit the undertray a bit. As sensitive as they are to damaged, I was pleased there was nothing broken, not even the elusive rubber strip that seems to fall out if you look at it wrong.

The beast to miss here is wild boar - rather like running into a brick wall.
There's a lovely story about some guy who hit one in a 4x4, picked it up and put it on the back seat for the freezer but it was only unconscious and woke up while he was on the autoroute.

Talk about bad luck. At least you're okay and the deer didn't wind up in the front seat with you. I had a similar evening Tuesday but with much different outcome. We don't usually see too much wildlife in my area, but that night I was going along about 35 mph when I spotted a baby skunk making his way across the road. I managed to stop in time so we both lucked out. About two miles later on another road I nearly hit a possum slowly crossing. Half mile later I'm startled to see Bambi trotting alongside me in the grass. I fully expected to see Smokey the Bear up the road trying to hitch a ride with me.

Hahaha, I want to hear that story. I have now fixed the damage, was lucky enough to find a local and forum member who parted out a XK8 in the same color - the panel won't need repainting. All in all it cost me $800 to fix - I guess that's cheap for a Jag.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck but surprised at the lack of damage..........you got off lightly buddy.

Kudos to you for the quick and relatively cheap fix
