Default SLM not functioning

So I did the flip key conversion. When I remove my transponder from my key I wanted to be sure I had not damaged it so I took it and the key and tried to start the car. It would not start first time so I held transponder closer to tumbler and then it would start. I finished flip key conversion and now have problems. The top will not operate. When I push the top down switch, the rear windows drop, but the fronts do not move and there is no pump action.
Also I can operate windows but not top using key in door.
I tried a hard reset but still no response from top.

The remote still operates door lock and unlock, lights on and off and trunk.

Any ideas?

Check the roof pump fluid level first then the petcock closed.

So... if the remote functions work, then the car is happy with the new fob - just not with the transplanted key stem/transponder.

Do you have another, unmodified, key - valet key? - that you can use and confirm if that still works as expected?

Best wishes,
Mike

Try the key in the door to operate the roof.

Have you done any work on the roof system or any other part of the car?

With the windows dropping and going up tells me that your switches are good.

I answered two threads

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-158329/page2/

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...l-down-158804/

the last is where I jumped a relay back there. I momentarily jumped both up and down to find out which was which

Ok you have power to the relay so the fuse is good. Now power to the relay to activate it from the SLM will not be present until you press the open button. If that is the situation then check your plug to the SLM.

Clear them and see if they come back.

yes, I cleared them and they keep coming back. I tried using an intact original key and not my flip key and I still get these errors.

the most probable cause as listed in jag trouble shooting is low battery voltage. It says 12 v so i am charging it. If tomorrow I don't get around 13 volts on it, I will go to sears to have battery checked out.

I will get a new VM as the one I have is an old analog one.

How does one check the digital signals from the control modules to each other?

Is the car starting and running ok? If not is the security light flashing and are you able to turn it off with the key or remote?

everything works except top

the SLCM gets signals from Body Processor Module, Instrument Pack, Diver Door Control Module and Pax Door Control Module.

the errors come from instrument pack 1041 and body processor 1135

I may be talking to dealer soon

What other work have you performed on the car just recently? Have you removed or cleaned any grounds or the instrument cluster?
