Smile Solution: Valley hose leaks and knock Sensor

In a previous post involving my 2000 XK8 I asked for help in solving my left bank knock Sensor failure causing Restricted Performance and a coolant hoses leakage under the intake manifold. As it turned out both problems were solved quite easily.
First the coolant hoses under the intake manifold were not leaking. The orange coolant was coming from the hose connection at the line thermostat. That is the line going to the coolant tank. That coolant line consist of two short rubber hoses and a plastic rigid line in the middle. The one at the thermostat housing was leaking at the factory snap fitting. So, I bought a new heavy duty rubber hose intending to replace the fittings at both ends of the rigid plastic line. In doing so I broke the plastic line. It was very brittle and what would happen with a brake during driving? So I threw that away and just went with the good rubber hose from the thermostat directly to the coolant tank with good worm gear clamps. Problem solved.

The knock sensor was easy to replace with out removing the intake manifold and throttle body along with all the associated clap trap. I just did what Motorcar Man told me to do. Thanks. Just fished it out and swam another one in and bolted it down.

Entire job done in a couple of hours with out shouting bad words. All that was needed was some good rubber hose, good clamps and a new knock sensor.

Thanks Guys
