Sometimes it's good
Last January, Jon89 and I replaced the fuel pump in my 2000 XK8, ran it for a good run and parked it in the garage, after getting the State Inspection. Things got kind of crazy right as the warm weather arrived. Went on a golf trip and half the guys got Covid, couple bad and mine was milder than most, but not a good time.
Most projects on the cars got put aside and besides yard work and playing golf, not a lot got done.
First week in this January and it's kind of scary out there, seriously, inspection time again! Put in a fresh gallon of high test. Checked all the lights and brakes and headed to the station. After about 40 minutes and a few laughs watching the largest guy there getting out of the Jag and opening the gas tank and boot, which he didn't know what it was, as I saw him looking at the notice. Pulled the hood latch and got both boot and bonnet messages and tried to go to the front of the car and pull the bonnet up, I just had to go out and help him. All was well, only safety inspection on a 20 year old car in NC. He pulled it out and of course opened everything again when he got out. Said he was not build for that car.
On to the next good fortune. I have to go by the DMV on the way home. WOW! a parking spot at the door and two people waiting outside. One by the time I got there. You can only go in to be served, no line inside. It's normally a long line. Well, I had the forethought to grab the tag papers not only for the Jag but for the '49 Roadster and the '70 TR6 that are due next month when I left the house. I generally do it on line, but as it was 3 cars and a $3 fee for each that way, I thought I might get lucky. Turned out I did, parking spot at the door and 2 people inline and in and out in 5 minutes. All new tags this year and got close to real excitement. The first three letters JAD, think I should have waited it out for JAG???? LOL
Now, the car did have flat spots on the wheels and it took a good run to get that out, well, mostly.
Need to drive the car more.
So, pretty good car day and don't get to hear a lot of those on the Forum.
