Default Spark Plugs

Hi everyone, quick question on what plugs are being used. I need to change mine out, (2004 XKR 4.2) I find that the plugs suggested are either the NGK IFR5N10 or NGK NFR5G-13E. What would you guys suggest?

rackets351...

All the good stuff can usually be found at Eurotoys in the Chicago area....They have been in the Jaguar business for probably 20 years!

The original factory fitted spark plugs are NGK IFR5N10 and for the 4.2 those are the best to stick with.
You can get a full set of 8 from a well known auction site for $76.49

NGK owns Denso and Denso's are what I've used for years.....Denso "Iridium" but now that NGK owns them...I guess as long as it is an "Iridium" Plug...It's OK!

"Iridium" apparently comes from Lava and is suppose to be one of the Hardest Metals on Earth! (Purpose): To last longer!

That's sounds just one step in marketing hype below suggesting they are forged from Kryptonite.

If there's anyone else with the same curiosity as me about spark plug numbering, here's the decode:

Hey Guys!

I told you wrong! Iridium is a by-product of Platinum Mining and is a by-product of Nickel and Copper production and South Africa is the major producer...Sorry about the Lava story! Main thing is that it is extremely Hard and perfect for Spark Plugs.....

and Graham, where do you get all this stuff?

I am wondering likewise, I think they do it like a relay race Seems like the “customer service” for us recent arrivals is on 24/7.

I knew the e-types pretty well , but not he X100’s, or any Jaguar made after 1974. Having this top quality online resource is what sold me when I purchased my ‘02 ( three years ago today !! ).

I'm reminded of the above words in the forum

zray, I too bought with confidence after reading and lurking on the forum for a while. I learned of the most important stuff and purchased accordingly. Without support like this I might have gone to something else.

micheal, That is correct!! Thanks you all. I can't wait to contributed something meaningful, LOL TM
