Default Speed sensitive steering control

A second new product I hope to develop over the winter is a speed sensitive steering control. This is going to be super cool guys.

As some of you know, our cars adjust the steering force based on speed, providing for easy parking and more resistance road feel at higher speeds. The set points for this system are preprogrammed. For many of us, it would be great to increase the road feel at somehat lower speeds, adding to the sporting driving experience. The controller I envision will allow you to change the 'curve' of speed vs. power steering assistance.

This will be much more sophisticated than simply disconnecting the power steering modulator with a switch that I know a few people have tried.

Another teaser...more to come later.

I used to, now I am just the pointy-haired engineering boss.

I do not think so. I checked a '97 (pre XKR) wiring diagram and the electronics for it is there. I also looked at a 2001 marketing brochure and this feature is standard across models.

Sign me up too. I love my XKR but if I could change one thing, it would be the steering.

The variable PAS system was used on the X300 and I think the same module is used up to 2002 XK/2003 XJ.

Thanks Bob. The 2003/2004 XK wiring diagram (the latest I have) also shows it.

The steering at low speed on my 2002 is much lighter than it was on my 2000 XK8. Do the 2001's and on already have this feature?
