Default Spring inside ABS ring?

I see there is a curved flat spring that sits down in the center of the ABS ring. Can anyone explain its purpose? Doesn't appear to be doing anything.

Are you referring to the spring pin nut lock on front?
If so it should be engaged through axle and into slot on reluctor/nut.

Do you mean the cir clip inside the hub above the speed sensor disk? If so, i believe it holds the abs ring in place. Though given how thats screwed in i can't imagine it just loosening.

Ah its been a few years, I'm having trouble remembering what else it could be wrt the bearing sorry.

Ah, on closer inspection I see the spring clip has the holding pins attached to its ends. Does seem superfluous, as I also can't imagine the ABS ring coming loose, given what a job it is to remove it. Thanks for the input!

Yes, unlikely but a fun ride if it did.
