hi, i have only recently purchased an 2002 xk8 convertible from Houston tx and its missing the spring clip which holds on the abs rotor, the spindle has a flat spot so the pre load which the abs rotor provides does not work and subsequently works the abs rotor loose. is it possible to purchase the abs rotor spring clip separately until i can get the spindle or purchase the complete wheel bearing and knuckle from ebay.

The likely cause is that someone has replaced the bearing and on torqing up the abs nut, they have been unable to get the holes in the spindle to match up with the abs nut, so they didn't bother putting the clip back in place.


This is what must have happened to mine also, however whoever did it just drilled another couple of holes in the spindle and popped the clip into the new holes.


I think this is likely to be a common problem.

 

Hi, Thanks yes that seems very likely, i just need to order the complete knuckle with the spindle, bearing abs sensor assy all included, for $90 compared to the price of the clip for $25, i have been trying to find a simple fix in the meantime, to stop that abs nut working off.
