Default Squeak on cold start. Audio link included

Hi all,
This squeak is coming from right under the front right bonnet (hood) vent . Recent service checked all belts and they said they were all fine.

Don't think I can embed this so here's an external Clyp link.

Any ideas would be great.

Cheers G

usually the idler pulley. Can't you tell where it's coming from with the hood open and you standing right above the pulleys ?

+1 on idler pulley ......

....... but could be as simple as having splashed coolant on the belt. This puts a glaze on the belt which is almost imposssible to cure. A fine mist of water on the belt at startup will distinguish between the two. If it's belt squeal, this will temporarily stop it; if it's idler, it won't.

Thanks for the responses. Barely audible this AM (seems to be temperature related) but seemed to be coming from the front, so might be SC pully? Belt seems fine. I'll ask the mechanic to check pulleys when bushes are getting done next week.

Went on for a while yesterday. longest yet.

Thanks again!

My idler pulley does it too and I'm sure it is because I shimmed the pulley rather than replace it to fix a belt throwing problem. It's on my to-do (but probably won't get to) list as long as the belt stays in place and the noise keeps going away when warm.

Try spraying some soapy water on the supercharger belt whilst the engine running. If the noise goes away then it'll probably be the supercharger belt requires replacing. Mine made the same chirping noise on startup until I replaced the belt.
