Squeaky belts
On startup I have an annoying squeak from the belts that lasts about 10 to 15 minutes and then is gone for the day.
I am having trouble getting it tracked down as it is gone before I can isolate it and never there when the car is in for service.
Known issue? Any ideas for a non mechanically minded owner?
Thanks

I've seen a few tricks to quiet squeaky belts that *sometimes* work.
1) Belt treatment spray: A little might help, too much will probably make it A LOT worse.
2) Scotch Brite: When you start the car after sitting over night and it's squealing, take a square of the course scotch brite and touch it against the belt while the car is idling. If the belt isn't too far gone, this can remove some of the glazing and roughen the surface enough to stop the squeak.
I've tried #2 and it works, but be careful you don't lose your fingers in the process.

Had the squeaky belt several months ago. The belt treatment spray worked for me, but needed touch up after about 30 days.
The next time it happened, I changed the belt. On the NA model, there is only one. Belt was about $45 and it maybe took 15 minutes. Most of that time was checking the belt diagram to make sure I was threading it right. Easy job.

Mine chirp like crickets for the first startup of the day, lasts like you about 10-15 minutes and then gone. It has been doing this since the first day I owned the car, 3+ years and 60K miles ago.
