Default squealing from right front wheel

sound gets louder as I go faster and it does not matter if I press the brakes or not. I just replaced the rotors and pads and at first thought, I had messed something up and sounds like the bearing, but I wanted to ask first before replacing.

just did the passenger side bearing 2 months ago.

In my experience bearing problems roar, not squeal. Brake pads squeal. Consider a sticking caliper.

Sounds like a bearing but after two months? Or is it the other side. I guess these cars are notorious for front bearings. They have to be pressed and I assume costly. Good luck!

I have what I think is the start of some bearing noise. Dont really use the car enough and now its Winter so I wont take it out till Spring. Its real cold here now at 2 degrees for a high today. Bitter cold temps and snow on the way for Saturday over 6 more inches. I dont subject my Jag to any weather conditions. I know its sounds silly.

I have more of a low whine, whirring type of sound.

Note to self, never start a thread after taking cold medicine.

Replaced passenger side and drivers side is squealing and it sounds like metal against metal.

I thought of a sticking caliper, but I here the sound even when the brakes are depressed.

+1 - could be, happened to me twice and reversing didn't make the stone come out. It squealed like hell from one side, and got louder when going faster.

Hey, did you ever figure out what was causing this? I'm getting the squeaking from the front left wheel, and was just curious if you found a solution.

Thanks!

I was lucky that on both occasions it happened close to a tyre centre. They popped the wheel off and prized the stone out from between the disc and the 'stone guard'. The guard isn't bent or mis-shapen, but there is a tarmac/gravel plant close to where I live, which obviously has just the right grade of stone to get behind the shield.

If my front wheel was squealing, I'd be getting the front on stands a.s.a.p and rotating the wheels to try to locate the source.

Dry metal on metal never ends well!
