Stability control failure warning light
My 1998 Jaguar XK8 is showing a warning light “stability control failure” and the ABS warning light is also showing. I live in Portugal and put the car into the Jaguar dealer over here who say that there is a module that requires replacement but that because the car is old Jaguar no longer supply the parts. Can anyone please confirm the diagnosis and advise if there is anywhere in the UK that could provide. a replacement part?

First things first - remove and clean all four wheel speed sensors by scrubbing them with an old toothbrush and dish soap while holding your thumb over the electrical connector plug in order to keep it dry. Then, check the condition of their wiring harnesses. If you find splits or cracks in the harness boots, clean the boots carefully and seal them with neutral-cure RTV silicone. Allow the RTV to properly cure, then clean the electrical connectors with the appropriate electrical component cleaning spray and reinstall everything....
Following these steps back in March 2013 fixed the intermittent ABS / Stability Control warning messages on the dashboard of my wife's 2006 XK8. Ever since then I remove and scrub the wheel speed sensors at every tire rotation and inspect the condition of their wiring harnesses at the same time. Works for me....

It may be much easier: Typical effect of battery
With my car it is similare: If I start the car multiple times (start - out of the garage - stop - close garage & open gate - start - move outside - stop - close gate -..) then I can bet to get the same messages.
If I drive a while (with this message) and stop/ start agein, the message is gone.
If I keep the car running, the message doesn_t appear.
Keeping the car in storage for a while (some weeks): Same result - always cured after driving "a while" (some miles/ minutes)

If the speed sensors is not the problem, find an independent shop and arrange to have the abs module sent for testing and repair. If you have a place to work, remove it yourself, so that the car isn't taking up shop space. There is a lot of information here and on utube to assist.
