Hi, just wondering if an XJ8 3.2 v8 with a ZF5HP24 trans would be a swapable trans for a 96 XK8 ZF5HP24?

From looking at the JEPC, I would say that the 3.2 box is a no-no. There's no cross-correlation of the part numbers, and the diff is a different ratio.

There are matches across for the MY98/99 XK8 to the 4 litre XJ, but not for for the very early XK. Hope that makes sense!

It might be worth dropping a pm to one of the techs - motorcarman or NBCat as they will most likely know.

Well since I have NEVER worked on a 3.2 liter car, I don't know anything about those gearboxes.(I am a North America guy)
All XK 4.0 and XJ 4.0 ZF5HP24 are interchangeable. (AJ26 and AJ27, does not matter)

Could be the 3.2 gearbox is compatible but?

 

Cheers for both your replies. I saw a ZF5HP24 gear box listed for about £300.00 that had been refurbished but the catch was it came out of a 3.2 litre XJ8 v8. Seams if the Jag is an xk8 the prices start to rise and even more so if it's and XKR
Naturally my interest was piqued as they can get fairly pricey so...?

 

The 4.0 SuperCharged X100/X308 use the W5A580 (Mercedes 722.6) gearbox so it is DIFFERENT)
