Stalks and Steering Wheel Illumination
First time driving in the dark in my recently acquired XK8. Noticed the low beam headlights are angled really low down and need adjustment but that has been well covered in other threads. Another thing I noticed is that there was no illumination on the column stalks (indicators, lights, wipers etc) or on the steering wheel controls (radio, cruise control etc). Everything else seems OK (although I thinks some bulbs are out behind the dashboard dials.). Anyone had this? I have a feeling this is a nasty job involving dismantling the steering column and dash!!

Steering wheel controls and column stalks, AFAIK, never were illuminated. Strange as it seems.
As for your dashboard dials that may need new globes (bulbs), post #4 in the following thread has a good video on replacing them:

Hope this helps,

Wow, that IS strange. I'd always assumed it was mandatory to have those controls illuminated. Even back in the 90's why would Jaguar not do that? Thanks for the info.
I distinctly remember that back then that was something you would normally only find on the top luxury cars. Mostly Rolls, Bentley, and perhaps top of the line S classes.
