Default Steering HP-hose

Hi all.

Changed my powersteering high-pressure hose, the one going from the pump to the rack. The old one was leaking.
The new hose has a different design and is routed differently to keep it further away from the hot engine.
A fiddly job, but not difficult. The hardest part was to get the nut on the new hose to catch the thread below the pump. Fabricated a primitive coathanger tool to keep the hose in position.
The mentioned nut is hard to get at. I used a 16mm crowfoot going in from below.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but if anyone has any pics of the routing, please post. It's a mystery to me.

No pictures, I'm afraid but I replaced mine on my 98 XK8 Convertible recently with the newer hose with the straight pipe into the power steering pump. The routing from the rack to the rubber hose is identical to the old hose. The rubber hose with the outer foam cover routes just past the bottom of the air conditioning compressor and directly up to the pump. I managed to squeeze one largish hand up to start the nut then finished it off
with a crows foot on an extension. Fiddly but doable. If you are still confused, it will be a few days before I can put my car on the lift to photograph it. Good luck.

I finally got the hose routed, here are some tips:
1. Taking the fans out is a PITA, don't listen to those who say it's just two nuts & two plugs, the housing needs to be flexed & forced out.
2. The hose starts very inboard next to the block.
3. I had to use a hanger to reach between the rack & crossbeam to pull the hose down & guide it on it's way, it kept getting caught between some metal pipes & a wire harness.
4. There are good pics here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...d-leak-225590/
