Steering wheel reach broken
Has anyone had this before? I don’t know the system very well and don’t know if it’s going to require parts or if it can be as simple as a $0 fix of a bolt that’s un tightened.
I have been living with this for a few months because I forget it’s an issue, until I am reminded of it.

Alrighty then, I'm gonna say it's a gear disconnected from the motor or loose and spinning on the shaft or a broken gear (may be plastic). If you lucky it's just a set screw loose and not moving the column. Since you can move it by hand, I picturing the gear spinning on the shaft as you move it with the rack on the column. Find the motor, I'm sure it's buried in there somewhere and see what you can find.

Your cheapest 'fix' is going to be a salvage yard replacement column.
The plastic 'gear' is stripped and allowing the column movement using external force.
People have fabricated replacement parts but none are offered by Jaguar.

The 'plastic-gear' I referred to is actually a round 'plastic-threaded-'block'.(no corrosion build-up with the plastic)
A threaded metal rod moves the column fore/aft by 'shuttling' the plastic block attached to the upper column.
I think the repair might be a 'delrin' (or metal) rod machined to fit in the column assy. to 'mimic' the original part.
If you have some machining skills, then a repair might make sense?
It is only a little over a centimeter or two wide so not a large piece.
